Ninah Turner’s oil paintings revere life in a dreamlike state. Ethereal women portray a sense of mystery and hope while reality is lost in the wonder of their eyes. Turner uses paintings to take the viewer down a rabbit hole into a world of surreal enchantment and euphoric impressions.
As a child raised by a single working mother, Turner used art as a means of self-entertainment and an ease to the passing of time. As her connection to the world evolved, so did her work. Painting has allowed Turner to create individualistic expressions of connection, relationships, and energy. Through her work, Turner shares an interpretation of memory, environment, and experience of life.
Turner received her BFA from The University of California, Berkeley, while studying at The University of Arts London, Wimbledon, and Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
